Chrome Plating
Mirror-bright, hard, and built for daily abuse.
Chrome electroplating deposits a brilliant, hard, corrosion-resistant layer that has defined the look of automotive brightwork and premium fixtures for a century. Decorative chrome is a thin, mirror-bright chromium layer over nickel — the nickel provides the body and corrosion protection, the chromium provides the blue-white brilliance and scratch-resistant top surface.
We offer chrome plating alongside our gold services for clients who need both finishes — a restoration with gold emblems and chrome trim, or a product line with mixed plating requirements — so one lab handles the whole job.
For dedicated chrome projects — full bumper re-chroming, large restoration lots, or heavy polishing work — our sister division under Pacific Intelligence specializes in polishing, powder coating, and chrome, and we route those jobs directly to that team.
Properties & Benefits
Mirror brilliance
The distinctive blue-white chrome mirror, achieved over a buffed nickel base — the finish quality is decided by the polishing underneath.
Surface hardness
Chromium is dramatically harder than nickel or gold, shrugging off the scuffs and swirl marks that dull softer finishes.
Corrosion protection
The nickel-chrome system protects steel and brass parts outdoors — the reason it became the automotive standard.
Cleanability
Chrome wipes clean and resists staining, which keeps fixtures and trim looking new with minimal care.
Common Applications
- Automotive: trim, bumpers, emblems, wheels components, restoration brightwork
- Fixtures & hardware: faucets, handles, rails, architectural details
- Motorcycles & marine: covers, guards, deck hardware
- Industrial: wear surfaces and tooling where hardness matters
Specifications
Decorative chrome is quoted per part based on size, condition, and required prep — heavily pitted or previously plated parts need stripping and polishing before plating, which the quote covers explicitly.
Our Process for This Service
Strip old plating where present, polish to final brightness, copper or nickel base plating as the part requires, then chromium deposition and inspection. On chrome, preparation is most of the work — and most of the quality.
